EILER conducts both primary and secondary research on concerns that affect labor and society in general. It also constantly monitors the impact of the current global economic crisis and releases timely updates to its network members. In recent years, it has focused on several key concerns for conducting research and already has databank materials on the following:
- Strategic and TNC-dominated industries in the Philippines such as mining, communications, pharmaceuticals and banking and finance.
- Labor-surplus management policies by government such as business-process outsourcing (BPO), labor export policy (LEP), export-processing/special economic zones (EPZs/SEZs) and informalization of work.
- Trade and investment strategies by foreign monopoly capital, especially on multilateral and bilateral FTAs, MFI loan deployment and TNC operations.
- Foreign policy directions that further militaristic and economic expansionism, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
EILER hosts a compact library that houses a unique collection of literature and research materials on labor and social issues. Researchers, labor educators, academics and advocates may avail of our library services on an appointment or membership basis. Due to limited copies, all published materials are lent on a room-use basis only.
